Applies: For a solid fence, wall, gate or hedge in the required front yard. § 18.50.040 · code text Any fence, wall, gate, or hedge located in the required front yard shall be between a minimum height of 36 inches and a maximum height of 42 inches if made of solid materials At least 36 inches and no more than 48 inches. Applies: For a wrought iron fence, or a fence partly of wrought iron, in the required front yard. § 18.50.040 · code text or a maximum height of 48 inches if it is a wrought iron fence or combination thereof.
Side and rear yard height	No more than 6 feet. Applies: For fences, walls and hedges in the required rear or side yards. § 18.50.040 · code text A fence, wall or hedge located in the required rear or side yards shall be a maximum six feet in height.
Permit	Most walls and fences under 6 feet need no building permit, but plans need Community Development Department review. Applies: For walls and fences under 6 feet high. § 18.50.040 · code text Although most walls and fences under six feet in height do not require building permits, property owners are required to submit plans to the Community Development Department for administrative review.
