California real estate law
Short-term rentals by city
California has no statewide rule that allows or bans Airbnb-style rentals. Each city decides in its own code. This page lists 171 cities and counties and what their code says, with a link to the section for each.
40 allow them, 64 allow them with limits, 33 do not, and 34 depend on the zone or the kind of rental. Read October 2026 from each municipal code and checked against the text. A city's answer is shown only when its checked rules agree. General information, not legal advice.
