§ 9-34.010. Purpose and intent.

The purpose of this zone is to assure the provision and regulation of public and private parklands affording active and passive recreational opportunities to city residents.

§ 9-34.020. Permitted uses.

Table 9-34.020 contains a listing of permitted uses, and accessory uses within the district. Uses in the table are permitted subject to the permit criteria referenced. Any use not included shall be considered prohibited.

§ 9-34.030. Evaluation of projects.

The City Council has adopted a master plan of parks and recreation for the city. The plan assesses the recreation facility and program needs of the community and indicates the priorities of those needs and how they will be met. Any applications for recreation facilities will be reviewed for consistency with the master plan of parks and recreation. (Prior code § 9-21.030; Ord. 98-8 § 2 (part))

§ 9-34.040. Applicable areas.

The regulations and standards contained in this section shall apply to all properties designated as parks on the city zoning map. (Prior code § 9-21.040; Ord. 98-8 § 2 (part))

§ 9-34.050. Standards.

The standards in Table 9-34.050 shall apply to developments within the parks district.

In addition to the city’s site development, building and engineering standards and requirements, several federal and state laws and policies address parkland dedication, equipment safety and facility accessibility such as the Federal Consumer Product Safety Commission Handbook for Play Lot Safety and the Americans with Disabilities Act.
