  • Sales may run only from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

How long a sale may last
  • Each sale may last up to 3 days in a row, or 2 back-to-back 2-day weekends.

    No permit shall be approved and no sale shall be conducted for more than three (3) consecutive days
Permit
  • A permit is required; apply in writing to the city clerk before the sale.

    Before any garage sale shall be conducted, the person conducting the same shall file a written application for a permit with the city clerk, which shall set forth:
Sales per year
  • At most 3 sales per calendar year.
    Applies: Counted per applicant or per property; each sale needs a city permit.

    no more than two (2) previous sales have been conducted by the applicant or on the premises within the calendar year.
Signs
  • Signs on premises or within 200 feet with owner's written permission; maximum 4 square feet; not on trees or poles.
    Applies: Applies to a permitted garage sale; signs may be displayed only during permitted sale times.

    Signs advertising a garage sale for which a permit has been issued under this chapter may be placed or erected on the sale premises or within two hundred feet (200') with written permission of the property owner, but not at any other location, subject to the following conditions: a) no such sign shall exceed four (4) square feet in area; b) no sign shall be placed or affixed to any tree or utility pole; and c) no such sign shall be displayed at times other than the permitted times of sale.
