Chapter 9.11 - Permits Required

9.11.010 - Purpose and General Plan Consistency

Permit review is necessary to maintain consistency with the General Plan, regulate uses which have the potential to adversely effect surrounding properties, promote a visually attractive community, and provide flexibility in standards and requirements when special circumstances exist. The purpose of this Chapter is to prescribe the types of review required for development projects in Apple Valley, as well as for adopting and amending specific plans, development agreements, and amendments to the General Plan and this Development Code.

9.11.020 - Review Authority for Required Permits (Amended Ord. 236, 251)

A.

Permits Required. Except as otherwise provided in this Development Code, buildings or structures shall be erected, reconstructed, structurally altered, enlarged, moved or maintained, and buildings, structures or land shall be used or designed to be used only for those uses permitted in the zone in which such building, structure or land is located, and then only after applying for and securing all permits and licenses required by all laws and ordinances of the Town of Apple Valley.

B.

Review Authority. The permits required for specific uses in specific districts are described in the Chapters pertaining to the specific zoning districts. Specific provisions relating to individual permit types are contained in Chapters 9.15 through 9.24. Table 9.11.020-A identifies the applicable review authority for each permit type.

C.

Action. Any action may be referred to or acted upon by the succeeding review authority or the Town Council.
