Huntington Beach Municipal Code Ch. 10.64 Meters—installation

When directed by the City Council, the Director of Community and Library Services shall cause to be installed on such streets or portions thereof within designated metered zones, parking payment devices or systems.

The Department of Public Works shall install and maintain signs in the various areas within metered parking zones. The signs shall clearly indicate the type of parking payment device or payment system available and the days and hours during which payment is required.

Signs as referenced in Section 10.64.020 may be placed on separate posts, painted on curbs, displayed electronically, or otherwise provided in a reasonable manner to inform the public, at the discretion of the Department of Community and Library Services.

The Department of Public Works shall have lines or markings painted or otherwise placed on curbs, streets, or adjacent areas to designate each parking space within designated metered zones and its applicable payment requirements.

Each vehicle parked in a designated parking space shall be positioned entirely within the lines or markings defining that space.

It is unlawful to park any vehicle across any such lines or markings, or to park a vehicle in such a position that it shall not be entirely within the space designated by such lines or markings.

Parking payment devices or systems shall be designed to register payment for authorized parking time and provide a reasonable means of verifying that payment has been made, and the applicable parking time has not expired. Parking rates not specified in this title shall be established by City Council resolution.

Any person violating any provision of this chapter shall, upon conviction thereof, be guilty of an infraction, and punishable by a fine not to exceed $100.00.
