ANIMALS

(c) No part of any such house, coop, or runway shall be located less than twenty-five (25') feet from any dwelling or place of business. (Ord. 506-80 C-M, eff. September 11, 1980)

14-28.010 General.

It is hereby determined that the public health, safety, welfare, and convenience require the establishment of certain specific regulations relating to the care and keeping of animals.

14-28.020 Animals on unenclosed premises.

It shall be unlawful for any person to stake out, herd, or graze any animal, except cats or licensed dogs, upon any unenclosed lot or land in any manner so that such animal may be or go beyond the boundary of such lot or land or stray within fifty (50') feet of any residence located on an adjacent property. (Ord. 506-80 C-M, eff. September 11, 1980)

14-28.050 Bees (apiaries).

In any R-District there may be kept on any lot not more than two (2) hives of bees.

(a) No hive shall be kept or maintained closer than twenty-five (25') feet from any dwelling or place of business.

14-28.060 Horses, ponies, donkeys, or mules.

In any R-District there may be kept one horse, pony, donkey, or mule for each 20,000 square feet of fenced land area, subject to the following provisions:

(a) Minimum lot size, 40,000 square feet;

(b) The fenced area and structures for the housing of such animals shall be at least fifty (50') feet away from any habitable structure on adjoining property;

(c) The lot shall at all times be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition so as to be free from offensive odors or other nuisance features; and

(d) The fly control regulations and other restrictions of the Environmental Health Department shall be adhered to.

14-28.030 (Not used).

14-28.040 Domestic animals.

In an R-District, or in conjunction with any residential use in any other district, there may be kept on any lot a total of not more than six (6) domestic animals as defined in this title, not more than three (3) of which may be dogs.

(a) Such animals and poultry shall under no circumstances be permitted to run at large but shall be at all times confined with a suitable house or coop with enclosed runway.

(b) Such house or coop and runway shall at all times be maintained in a clean and sanitary condition so as to be at all times free from offensive odors or other nuisance features.
