17.33.010 Generally. ¶

Stables may be established in the residential zones upon approval of a conditional use permit or minor conditional use permit pursuant to PMC 17.08.110(D) and Chapter 17.48 PMC. All requirements of PMC 17.32.010, Keeping of large animals, shall apply. (Ord. 432 § 2, 1994)

17.33.020 Development standards. ¶

In determining the improvements to be required in conjunction with the establishment of a stable the rural nature of the use shall be taken into consideration and urban standards will not necessarily be applied. If new structures are added which require a development review, then the public improvement requirements, shall be at least as extensive as would be required for the construction of a house in a rural residential zone. If no development review is required because the use will occupy only existing facilities, public improvement requirements shall be limited to those necessary to mitigate health and safety impacts of the use. Parking areas need not be paved. (Ord. 438 § 2, 1994; Ord. 432 § 2, 1994)

17.33.030 Conditions of approval. ¶

Conditions imposed by the conditional use permit or minor conditional use permit shall be directed at ensuring the public health and safety and at obtaining compatibility of the use with the surrounding properties and preventing the creation of a condition which would be a nuisance. Such conditions may involve any pertinent factors affecting the establishment, operation, and maintenance of the requested use, including but not limited to:

A. The number and location of animals;

B. The type and construction of corrals, stables, or other structures;

C. Fencing requirements;
D. Landscaping requirements;
E. Hours of operation for commercial facilities;
F. Lighting and the hours of illumination;
G. Nature, duration and frequency of special events. (Ord. 438 § 2, 1994; Ord. 432 § 2, 1994)

17.33.040 Temporary use permits. ¶

If provided for in the conditional use permit authorizing the stable, special events, such as horse shows, may be approved from time to time by temporary use permits. Authorization for such special events shall be by temporary use permit as outlined in Chapter 17.26 PMC. (Ord. 432 § 2, 1994)
