Chapter 18.138 — OPEN SPACE ZONING

§ 18.138.010. Governmental agencies. ¶
Governmental agencies, excepting portions of the United States Army at Herlong, are encouraged in the management of their holdings, to preserve and/or facilitate optimum land use potential for the above defined categories.

§ 18.138.020. Classification. ¶
Scenic highways and scenic corridors are classified open space lands with regulating enjoyment of scenic beauty. County ordinance and/or state law currently provide applicable regulations and restrictions. New scenic highway mileages are encouraged. (Ord. 467 § 49, 1984)
§ 18.138.030. Open space lands. ¶
Lands within an agricultural preserve contract and/or scenic easement are open space lands charged with the production of food and fiber and the enjoyment of scenic beauty. (Ord. 467 § 49, 1984)
§ 18.138.040. Sections classified as open space zoning. ¶
Various sections of local ordinances can be classified as open space zoning. The following chapters of Title 18 are so classified:
(1) Chapter 18.52 . Designating F-R, forest recreation districts providing for public recreation and enjoyment of scenic beauty;
(2) Chapter 18.60 . Designating O-H, historical site districts, providing for conservation of natural resources;
(3) Chapter 18.72 . Designating A-F, agricultural forest districts, providing for food and fiber;
(4) Chapter 18.66 . Designating E-A, exclusive agricultural districts, providing for the production of food and fiber;
(5) Chapter 18.68 . Designating U-C, upland conservation districts, providing for the production of food and fiber, enjoyment of scenic beauty and, when applicable, public recreation;
(6) Chapter 18.64 . Designating O-S, open space district. (Ord. 467 § 49, 1984)
§ 18.138.050. Water—Importance. ¶
Recognizing the importance of water in Lassen County, Eagle Lake and Honey Lake are specifically zoned open space providing for the above-mentioned four areas of land use, but also providing for particularly important nesting and feeding habitat of numerous game and domestic animals. (Ord. 467 § 49, 1984)
