17.03.010 Title of ordinance.

The ordinance codified in this title shall be known and cited as the zoning ordinance of the city of Angels. (Ord. 270 (part), 1984)

17.03.020 Zoning plan adopted.

There is adopted a zoning plan for the city. The zoning plan is a districting plan as provided by law. (Ord. 270 (part), 1984)

17.03.030 Purpose and intent.

This zoning plan is adopted to:

A. Provide a means to achieve the goals, objectives, policies and standards of the general plan; and to provide a guide for the growth and development of the city;

B. Encourage, classify, designate, regulate and segregate the uses of land, buildings and structures to serve the needs of commerce, industry, residences and other appropriate land uses;

C. Establish conditions which will allow all the land uses within the city to coexist in harmony;

D. Assure adequate site development standards;

E. Provide a means of obtaining adequate provisions for community utilities such as transportation, water supply, sewage disposal, schools, parks and other public requirements. (Ord. 270 (part), 1984)

17.03.040 Applicability--Territory.

This title shall apply to all incorporated land within the boundaries of the city. This title shall apply to all lands annexed to the city after the effective date of the ordinance codified in this title, immediately on the effective date of annexation. All land so annexed is declared to be in the RA zone until otherwise reclassified. (Ord. 270 (part), 1984)

17.03.050 Applicability–-Public agencies.

Except as otherwise specified in this title, this title shall apply to all agencies of the United States and any state, county, city and public district insofar as this title does not conflict with any valid law of the United States or the state of California. All the required fees are waived for these agencies. (Ord. 270 (part), 1984)

17.03.060 Conflicts.

This title shall not be construed to reduce, annul or otherwise interfere with private easements, covenants or agreements; provided, however, that the provisions of this title shall govern whenever they are more restrictive. (Ord. 270 (part), 1984)

17.03.070 Conformance required.

No building or structure shall be erected, reconstructed or structurally altered in any manner, nor shall any building or land be used for any purpose other than as permitted by and in conformance with this title and all other ordinances, laws and maps referred to in this title. Actual regulations for each district designated on the sectional maps shall be as set forth in subsequent sections in this title. (Ord. 270 (part), 1984)

17.03.080 Unclassified territory.

All the incorporated territory of the city which is not included under the terms of this title in any other district is designated and classified as constituting RA district. (Ord. 270 (part), 1984)
