17.87.010 Voiding of permits.

A. When the use of land, building or premises, authorized by the city under the provision of a plan or permit is not started within one year following approval by the final decision maker, the permit issued shall become null and void.

B. Extension of one year with a maximum of two extensions may be granted by the planning commission upon written request showing good cause, provided the commission can make one of the following findings:

  1. That the extension is necessary to secure the needed approvals from other agencies;

  2. That the extension is necessary to comply with the conditions of the original approval of this title and other ordinances; or

  3. That the applicant has demonstrated a good faith attempt to start the use within the prescribed time. The planning commission, when reviewing the extension of time, may establish additional conditions as deemed necessary to carry out the intent of this title, other ordinances, and the general plan existing at the time of the extension. 17.87.020 Statute compliance.

The planning commission and city council shall act in accordance with all the ordinances of the city and all amendments thereto, and any and all applicable state laws. (Ord. 270 (part), 1984)

17.87.040 Stay period.

Decisions of the planning commission shall become effective upon conclusion of the appeal period as specified in Section 17.81.010C. (Ord. 275 §9, 1985)
