  • A. Law. Section 8(c)(8) of the United States Housing Act requires that owners give a oneyear written notice to tenants and HUD of the contract’s termination or expiration. The one-year notification must state the owner’s intentions (i.e., to renew or not renew) at the time of the contract’s expiration.
