A. Section 231 insures mortgages for construction and substantial rehabilitation of rental housing for elderly persons (aged 62 or older) and/or persons with disabilities. A project must comprise 8 or more new or substantially rehabilitated units designed for occupancy by elderly persons and may include family units for occupancy for persons who qualify as disabled.
